Question ID: 419491
i have 2200+ songs, ripped from cds, stored on my computer and they
all changed to a file type .acp when i installed a new hard drive.
they, before i installed my new hard drive, transferred to my mp3
player (which supports mp3,wma,aac files) and played well. how can i
change them all back to a file type that my mp3 player supports and
that can be used with the real one player?

Howdy sprock-ga,

Please try the following. Take one of the song files that you know used to
be a .mp3 file type and change the file type from .acp to .mp3 please. Your
computer might give you a warning about changing file types, but if it does,
just ignore the warning and change it anyway. You can always change it back
to an .acp file type. Once you change the file type, see if it will play in
your MP3 player as well as your RealOne Player.

Please post your results back here if you would, and we can go from there.

Not a problem, sprock-ga.

Locate a likely file. Before all of this happened, it would have been named
something such as nameofsong.mp3 where "nameofsong" is the name of that song,
such as freebird.mp3 as an example. It is now named freebird.acp instead.

Click once on the filename and it will be highlighted. Click on the "File"
menu at the top of the window, then click on Rename.

You can now rename the file. When you start typing, the old file name will
disappear. You should type in nameofsong.mp3 for the new file name, with
"nameofsong" being replaced with the old name for the file/song.

Step-by-step:

- find a music file that used to named something such as: freebird.mp3
- it is now named something such as: freebird.acp
- click once on that file
- click on File at the top of the window
- click on Rename
- type in the new name for that file, such as: freebird.mp3
- run your MP3 player or RealOne Player
- locate and try playing the newly renamed file, such as freebird.mp3

Please report the results here. Thanks!

Hi,
I have the same issue and tried the work-around but it doesn't work.
The file is not recognized by the player (Windows).
Thanks,

I have the same problem. renaming the files to mp3/wma/aac does not
work. If there is a solution please let me know. I really don't want
to have to re-record all my CD's back onto my hard drive.
