I'd like to serve as a matchmaker for a friend who needs a girlfriend;
so I need an online service where others who have lovelorn friends or
family can share their friends' description with me, confidentially,
so we can try to find a match. My friend lives in Long Beach, CA, so
it should be people in Southern Calif. I found "webwoo" mentioned in
several articles, but it is apparently defunct. I've found nothing
else similar. But I think we friends can be more objective than the
individuals themselves via traditional dating services.

no offense.. but this sounds like an awful idea. practically
offensive to those "friends" we hold so dear.

Sorry if it seems offensive to anyone. I've asked my friend for
permission to try this, and he's agreeable. He's been looking for a
long time with little success. So, anyway, just trying to help, and
have run out of other ideas and suggestions.

Hi porfavor129-ga,

This is a bad idea, even if your friend is agreeable.

Why ?

Well because of your statement,

"I think we friends can be more objective than the
individuals themselves via traditional dating services."

This is not true, ONLY your friend knows the type of person he likes
and no matter how close you are to him, you will never know this.

I would suggest that he should do some online dating,
there are plenty of online dating sites that allow you to view members
profiles for free.

If he's not sure what to do, I found a good online dating guide at
http://www.relationship-and-dating-advice.com/online_dating.html

After he has had the time to look at plenty of members profiles,
he should be able to see if the type of person he wants is one of them.

I know you mean well by trying to help him but he needs to be the one
to find his perfect woman.

Online dating sites are very common these days on the web and I am
sure that a search for your area and dating in Google will return
hundreds of hits. I did a search for my area Eastbourne and Dating
and came up with loads of sites including
http://www.meeting-place.co.uk which seems to run a really
professional service.
