I was not looking for my personal profile online, but was more
concerned with actually finding myself. How does one do that? Thank
you.

To know who you are, you need to find the stillness of your mind.
Knowing who you are involves time alone, quiet and reflective time in
which you can listen to your thoughts, and reflect upon the day and
yourself. Being alone, sitting quietly, allowing yourself to rest
physically, emotionally, and mentally will give you an increasingly
clear sense of self. In those still times you are not playing out any
role or any identity, and your soul can speak to you more clearly.
Begin valuing any time you can create to sit or lie or be quiet.
Practice not thinking of anything, for stillness is the doorway to
sensing energy and opening your intuition.

Look in a mirror, then turn around 360 degrees, and, voila!. There you
are. You have found yourself. Have fun.

Stop seeking. The answers will come to you when you quit looking for them.

Hi Emily,

Nelson has neatly wrapped up the answer to your question, although you
may not understand why yet. Nelson's answer would have taken me pages
of attempted explanation, 'cause that's my way.

If your question is serious and you are impatient, allow me to suggest
a short cut to bring it on.

Step out of your comfort zone. Do something that you would not
normally do or be apprehensive about doing. By that it must be good,
else you won't find the real you. For example, would you feel
uncomfortable speaking before a crowd? If so, place yourself in such a
position to do so. Experience the dryness of mouth, sweaty palms,
changed voice and the multitude of eyes. As you do, know that your
audience feels for you and will admire your fortitude in you being
you; mistakes, mixed words, uneasiness included.

When you return to your comfort zone, you can say: "I did that". That
is when you will find yourself.

On the other hand, if you mean the WWW .. just type in your name ..
you will find all that you have ever discussed on line.

Hello Emily,
It's one of the more important questions I've seen on GA, thank you.
Of course, as you've seen from the above comments, you'll have to
define 'self' before you can hope to find it . . .

Sometimes reading books helps, especially if you involve yourself in a
carefully selected group of like-minded seekers. I understand the
viewpoint behind 'stopping the search' but I don't recommend giving it
up, mostly because there are so many side benefits as well as pitfalls
and it's all grist for the mill in finding out what your real
priorities are...

I have found the following book to be of great help:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1590301099/qid=1099424244/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/103-2168221-2298250

Here's a comment from one of the reviewers: "The teacher is known by
his students, and they are simply the most mature, developed, clear,
and simply HUMAN human beings I have ever known in the 30+ years I
have been seeking out transcendental experience/knowlege." I have had
a similar take on this group. If you are not inclined to groups, try
to read the book, it's very readable.

Other than this, the works of Ken Wilbur, Stanilaus Grof and Eckhart
Tolle (this last being the easiest to assimilate) come to mind.

good luck.
