Do you want to download movies permanently or would you be interested
in downloadable movie rental services (such as Movielink, where the
movie expires 24 hours after viewing)?

There are two major sites right now:

MovieBeam (http://www.MovieBeam.com)

MovieBeam doesn't use PC at all, but uses its own custom-made set-top
box instead. MovieBeam has agreements in place with DreamWorks SKG,
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Miramax Films, New Line Cinema, Sony
Pictures Entertainment, Universal Studios, Warner Bros., 20th Century
Fox Studios and Walt Disney Studios. The service will also license
library titles from several of these distributors.

MovieFlix (http://www.MovieFlix.com)

MovieFlix offers public-domain and independent movies that cost
virtually nothing to acquire. With two employees and flicks such as
Femalien and Bruce Lee in New Guinea (not to mention some soft-core
adult content), MovieFlix makes a comfortable profit, with 6,300
subscribers paying $5.95 per month.

I have found an overview of Digital Media Distribution and
Video-On-Demand Web Sites here

There are two more links I'd like to add:

Intertainer (www.intertainer.com)
Movielink (www.movielink.com)

These sites might get back in the business.
