I am looking for a downloadable list of UK media web sites. Ideally in
.xls format. Ideally with both URL and URL(Media) title. Does such a
thing exist? If so I would be happy to pay for it. Alternatively a
downloadable list of general major UK websites. I anticipate a file of
approx 5,000 records. Thanks. TIM

Hi parallel54-ga,
Can you please specify what kind of Media ( Radio, Television,
Newspaper, etc,.) you are looking for?

...or are you referring to Internet Radio and Television?

Thanks.

My apologies. I meant UK INTERNET Media sites. So TheRegister.co.uk /
FT.com / ZDNet.co.uk etc. Online media only.

Thanks

Hello again,
I found a list of UK "Media" sites at:
http://www.journalismuk.co.uk/links.htm

There's around 500+ websites at that page.

I would like to know what you think of the list and
the possibility that there may not be 5,000 UK Media websites.

Thanks again.

I'm afraid I'm not especially impressed. I've pulled together about
2,500 sites so far in the time since I asked the question so I'm
confident we can get well above this. I think I may struggle for 5,000
but I'm hoping 3-4,000.

Hi Tim

I can provide a list of close to 4000 websites relating to the UK
Media (Magazines, TV Stations, Radio, Newspapers etc). I can supply
this in a comma separated variable (CSV) list (one line per website).
This can be opened in Excel.

Do the websites have to be exclusively online or can they also be
available elsewhere? For example, would the Financial Times count?
It releases a paper version and has an online presence.

Let me know if this is the sort of thing you require and I can post my
list as the answer for you.

Hi there,

Yes a CSV file would do me but can you give me just the online sources
if possible and with their home page URLs alongside. If you have these
this would be a great answer.

I am still a little unclear as to what you mean when you say you only
want the online sources. Does this mean you would not want these ones
for example?

Financial Times, www.ft.com
Daily Telegraph, www.telegraph.co.uk

If you were to dismiss all newspapers, TV and radio programmes and
magazines from the list it would be a very small list!

Hi,

We'll get there in the end!

I WOULD want the sites you mentioned in your example, all I meant was
that they must have a website. So FT.com would be great as would
ITV.com, Telegraph.co.uk etc. If you have a list of this sort please
post.

Thanks.

OK great! I will tidy my list up and post this later on today for you.

Hello Tim

Sorry for the slight delay, the list took me a little longer to
compile than I thought it would. I had to remove a few unwanted
references (media sources without websites and such like) which
reduced the length of the list a little but still comes in over your
3000 lower limit.

Due to the length of the list I have made it available for you to
download as a ZIP file here:

http://3o0.net/mediawebs.zip

I will leave it at this location for one month or until you rate this answer.

If you have any further queries on this please ask for clarification
and I will do my best to respond swiftly.

Good answer to quite a tricky question. Researcher showed persistence
in clarification also which I think is a good trait. Thanks!
