On 19 Oct there appeared in the Daily Mail newspaper in the UK an
article about a company named Restore who offers tiny nylon strips
called pillars as implants to be inserted in the back of the throat to
prevent snoring.
I suffer from snoring and would like to make contact with this company
or someone who offers the service for installation of the implants in
the USA or the UK.

The name of the Company is Restore Medical and the procedure is called
the Pillar Procedure.

Restore Medical announces a breakthrough treatment for sleep-related
breathing disorders called the Pillar® Procedure.

What is the Pillar Procedure?

?The Pillar Procedure is a simple, effective, first-line treatment for
obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and socially disruptive snoring. Known
by the medical term ?palatal restoration,? the procedure only takes a
single, brief visit to the physician?s office. After first numbing the
area with a local anesthetic, your physician embeds three tiny inserts
in your soft palate using a specially designed delivery tool. The
inserts cause a stiffening effect in the palate tissue to prevent
vibration (snoring) and obstruction (OSA) of the airway during sleep?

How the Pillar Procedure works

?The Pillar Procedure addresses one of the anatomical components of
sleep apnea and snoring: the soft palate. During the Pillar Procedure,
three tiny woven inserts are placed in the soft palate to help reduce
the vibration that causes snoring and the ability of the soft palate
to obstruct the airway. Once in place, the inserts add structural
support to the soft palate. Over time, the body's natural tissue
response to the inserts increases the structural integrity of the soft
palate.

Pillar inserts are made of material used in implantable medical
devices for more than 50 years. They are designed to be invisible, and
should not be felt or interfere with swallowing or speech. Many
patients resume normal diet and activities the same day.?
