I am looking for a tool to make the thread (cut thread into the pipe
or machining thread) for ASTM A53A thread and coupling, American
Standard for 4" inch steel pipes. The thread should be tapered (~cone
shaped, not parallel).. how many threads in 1" inch long for american
standard pipes, would it be 8 or 11 1/2? Where can I buy this? Address

Hello chuntsui, there are several ways to produce a tapered pipe
thread. You can use a formed single point insert on a lathe, a thread
mill, thread rolling tools, or thread dies. I assume you are wanting
to put in a production pipe threading line. For this application you
will want threading dies and associated equipment. Here is contact

From my "Machinery Handbook" a 4 inch American National Standard pipe
thread has 8 threads per inch.
