According to the International Survey of Privacy Laws and Practice,
there is no general privacy law in India. You can read more about this

However, in May of 2000, Indian government passed the Information
Technology Act, a set of laws intended to provide a comprehensive
regulatory environment for electronic commerce. You can get a detailed
version of this act from this site
