I just returned from small claims court where we lost due to "burden of proof."My question is do you know where we can get information on the little giant sump pump model #6E-CIA-SFS. We have been trying to get our plumber to honor his 3-yr guarantee. The problem with ours is that the float would stick thus engaging our battery back up. We have been told that this is a common problem with this model and that Little Giant is in possible bankruptcy. Please can anyone help us with this. We have installed a new sump pump at our expense and the backup has never come on. PLEASE HELP jbrown190@aol.com |

Is there some way to back up the regular pump, other than with an electrical generator? N. Huth-Jones A: The regular sump pump can be backed up with a battery-powered pump. Most backup pumps operate on a 12-volt battery (a high-quality marine battery is recommended for best results). Several brands of pumps are available, but one of the best known is Little Giant, which measures only about 6 by 5 by 4 inches, but can pump more than 1,000 gallons of water per hour. This pump has a float-valve switch and will come on automatically if the main pump fails. A charger helps keep the battery at full power. One source for the Little Giant pump (about $330 without battery) is the Web site www.plumbingsupply.com/12volback.html. A problem with backup pumps is that they can stick if not used for long periods. It is recommended that the pump be tested if heavy rains or storms are expected. |
