The first name that occurs to me is Stefania Sandrelli, who, while
maintaining an active career in Italian cinema, appeared in the French
films "Les Vierges," "'Aîné des Ferchaux," "La Chance et L'amour,"
"Tendre Voyou," "L'Immorale," "Les Magiciens," "Police Python 357,"
and "Le Voyage de Noces." She is a brunette with the smoky-eyed,
sultry Diana Rigg look that was popular in the '60s and '70s.

Sandrelli's hairstyles have varied from a short gamine bob through a
shoulder-length flip, with various up-do looks, as well. Here are a
couple of photos of Stefania Sandrelli with short hair that might jog
your memory, if she is the lady you're seeking.
