How does one do the following: go to Tools, click on Internet

doing a complete system restore, I lost it and want it back.

Hi adessociao

Here you go -

Adding a web page to your Desktop:
"Instead of adding a Web page to the Internet Explorer Favorites
folder, you can create a shortcut to the Web on your computer's
desktop. That way, you can open the Web page (and launch Internet
Explorer at the same time, if it's not already open) simply by
clicking the shortcut icon. To place a shortcut to a Web page on your
desktop, follow these steps:
In the Internet Explorer 6 browser, open the Web page to which you
want to create a shortcut. Choose File, Send, Shortcut to Desktop.
Internet Explorer creates a shortcut to the current Web page, with the
title of the page beneath a Web icon."

I guess I wasn't clear. What you have told me I knew. I quite
literally want to transfer that whole box (General--found under
Tools/Internet Options) as a shortcut to the desktop. Since I did it
once, I know it's possible; the restore shouldn't have made it
otherwise, should it? Hate to make your life miserable, but, can it
be done?

Clarification of Answer by hummer-ga on 28 Oct 2004 17:15 PDT
Hi adessociao,

I'm sorry for misunderstanding your question. If I have it right this
time, it sounds as though whyisitso has beat me to it, correct? If
not, let me know and I'll give it another try.

Never feel bad about posting clarifications - they rarely make
researchers' lives miserable. It's ever so much better to communicate
rather than cutting things off early.

So, what to do now that my clarification is no longer needed but I
haven't really answered the question? Is there another little question
I can help you with?

Cheers,
hummer
Reason this answer was rejected by adessociao-ga:
the researcher did not answer the question correctly. after posting a
clarification and before the researcher was able to answer, a regular
person posted the answer i had been looking for; it worked.

Assuming hummer-ga is right about what you're wanting to do, another
easy way to do this is to grab the icon that appears to the left of
the URL in the Address Bar and drag it to the desktop.

From: http://channels.lockergnome.com/windows/archives/20040723_creating_a_shortcut_to_internet_options.phtml

"If you find yourself frequently accessing the Internet Options dialog
box, you may want to place a shortcut to it on your desktop. You can
do so by opening the Control Panel, right clicking the Internet
Options applet, and clicking Create Shortcut. Click Yes to have a
shortcut placed on the desktop. Now all you have to do is click the
shortcut to access the Internet options."

Is that what you're wanting?

hummer--I appreciate what you suggested; was my fault not making it
clear to start with. Right now, no, there's nothing else, but soon
will be. Thanks again for trying.
