I am going with my 2 kids to Tokyo, Japan next year. We speak very little - no Japanese. Where are the best places to buy: 1. electronics and electronic games that haven't made the US market? 2. Menga (Japanamation cartoons) books, how to draw books, videos, etc.? What is the best way of getting to and from the hotel to these places when you know very little Japanese. (I am not renting a car in Japan) |

Hi, I'm not an expert - but have been a few times. For shopping I'd recommend AKIHABARA - a shopping district packed with electronics shops - plus you can probably find all the manga and videos etc there too. The easiest way to travel is probably the underground system - which is pretty efficient - though a bit daunting first time if you dont have someone to guide you. Alternatively you can always just get taxis - they are pretty expensive - but very convenient (get the hotel staff to explain to the driver where you want to go and take a card from the hotel with their address in japanese!). - Delard |
