To be honest, while researching this -- it doesn't appear that he's
been up to much. IMDB doesn't have him working on anything after 1999.
Seeing that he's from Korea, it makes me wonder if it is possible that
he's passed on or his health has him not able to work.

I've found many different sites, and no where does it mention him
doing any work past "Nowhere to Hide".

His visit to Duke in 2000 -

His visit to the International Film Festival of India in 2000 -

An interesting interview w/ him in 2000 -

Info about a meet and greet from 2004 here in the States -

All signs point towards him not doing anything after "Nowhere to Hide".

Hello, chosendenton!

After reading the question, I've been looking around on the internet -
especially Korean web sites - and found some interesting information
for you.

He's been up to few movies - but not his own - and now one called
'HyeongSa' or in English 'Detective' which will be his seventh movie.
Bascially, it's about two detectives against rebellions in late 18th
century, Chosun Dynasty.
The movie hasn't been cranked in yet but he said it will probably on
screen next August or September in Korea.
He has recruited two of three leading actors, Ahn SungKee - starred in
'Nowhere to Hide' - and Ha JiWon who also has a good reputation in
Korea.
From what I've read, you can expect something like 'Hero' or
'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' stlye of a movie.

A little bit about what he had been doing before then.
He went to the States and took a part in 'Phone Booth' and some other movies.
From what he said, he didn't want to be seen as an action movie
director so he tried something different but obviously it didn't go
too well.
He changed his mind and there comes an action movie called 'Division'.
The scenario of the movie has been written for the last two years and
nothing much. He decieded to lay it down for a while and came back to
Korea.
He wouldn't say he gave it up but postponed it for another opportunity.
It seems like, to me, he has definitely suffered from pressures of his
first movie screened in the States - of course, 'Nowhere to hide' -
and language barrier.

That's about all I found and I hope it eased your curiosity a bit.

Hi, chosendenton!

I wish I could find articles written or translated in English for you
and I was trying to find one. Apparently, it is hard!

Anyway, my answer was based on these articles:
http://www.film2.co.kr/feature/feature_final.asp?mkey=2572
http://www.cine21.co.kr/kisa/sec-002100100/2004/10/041013174213093.html

I'm sorry that I could only find articles written in Korean.
I guess you could use web translators to get a gist out of these
articles even though they are usually pretty bad.
