I've never tried this, but it sounds good:

"ROC - CP-8740 Reactive Polyurethane Adhesive

Special bonding procedures of hardwood species, including
finger-jointing, laminating, J-line and other structural applications

[Works] especially well on compound elements e.g. HPL CPL galvanized
iron or metals, expanded polystyrene to wood, etc.

Cold press only"

There are readily available (expanded) polystyrene tile adhesives in
hardware outlets. But depending what you want, if you desire a really
strong bond, some adhesives which say in big letters ?Not for
Polystyrene Tiles? are good if used with discretion. These dissolve
the poly but a thin coat sticks really well.

Other way is double sided sticky foam.
