Excel function or simple VBA question: I need to search lists of
numbers to find the missing numbers and insert these numbers. It is
for telephone extension lists to find what extensions are not being
used. Eg 2200 through 2399 may have 50 numbers not in use. I currently
can use the VLOOKUP fcn nested in the ISNA fcn, then i have to filter
the false/true, copy the results - and i still don't have a single
list. Is there a function that can do this or only vba? thanks

Hi, ambersdad-ga:

Can we assume the range of available numbers is consecutive, as in
your illustration of 2200 through 2399?

To Mathtalk - yes, the numbers would be consecutive. I have ranges
that are always 3 or 4 digits long since they are extension ranges for
companies. So an example would be a list of 200 numbers from 600-799,
or two ranges 600-699 and 800-899. Sometimes the ranges are bigger
such as 2200 - 2699. I don't know how to post a sample excel file but
the range of numbers is so simple one can create a sample in just a
few seconds. The key issue is that i am always missing numbers and
need to easily find the missing numbers and insert them in a simple
quick way. Hope this helps.

Hi, endo-ga:

If I may make a suggestion, perhaps it would be simpler if you were to
pursue this by creating your own sample spreadsheet. It may be easier
for Readers to download a solution that you place on your website than
to upload materials there.
