I would appreciate statistics of total population and the various religious beliefs in Brazil for the year 1975 and estimates for 2005. By "religious beliefs" I mean the verious religions including sub sections within Christianity and groups that would be considered marginal. There is no need for detailed denominational statistics of mainline protestant/evangelical groups. Obs. You may find the site of the IBGE (Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics) of use, but far be it for me to restrict you! |

From the official yearbook of Jehovahs Witnesses. Out of a total population [2003] of 177,800,224, Brazil had 607,362 "Publishers" or baptised members. Those who go door to door telling people about God`s Kingdom. At the annual "Memorial", remembering Jesus Christ`s death, there attended a combined number of both baptised members, unbaptised members of their families and other interested ones, of 1,563,790. The number difference between the publishers and those attending the Memorial , of 956,428 shows a tremendous interest in what is being taught. |
