*** OUTLINE *** Recently, digital cameras started outselling traditional film cameras in North America. We're all familiar with the stacks of photo albums people use to hold their photographic prints. What is the equivalent of that for digital cameras? How many gigabytes of pictures are people saving? *** DETAILS *** I'm interested in the number of gigabytes of digital photographs that the average North American household saves each year. By "saves", I mean any method that preserves the digital information -- hard disk, CD-ROM, and so on. Sources required. |

I've got a very extensive digital photo collection. However, since I do not trust CD's, nor DVD's to last to hold my collection -- I bought a case of cheap Western Digital 6 gig hard drives -- all FAT32 formatted (so anything can read them) and that's my "archive". However, I can NOT recommend enough getting a photo printer. A good one. I had your same question that I posed to a friend of mine fairly recently, and he recommended that I do the photo printer -- let the pictures dry completely and go back to the photo albums. Plus, when you want to break out your photos, nobody wants to sit around your computer. They're always more comfortable sitting on a chair/sofa and flipping through a book. |
