I got a new Nokia 6820 cell phone with my AT&T acct.

I want to check my IMAP mailbox from the phone.

I emailed Nokia and they said it would be no problem. There is a
website that you can program in your server settings and it will SMS
or MMS the settings to your phone and then it can check your imap4
mailbox.

The site is:
https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/clients/nokia/americas/Email/

I went to the site and was surprised to see that they required you to
enter a ?telephone number or GPRS access point for accessing the
Internet? to dial into to connect to the internet via GPRS. I thought
AT&T would handle that.

Here are the fields it asks for:
Dialup/GPRS settings

 ---------------------------------------------
Bearer: GPRS GSM-CSD (dial-up)
Dialup number:
GPRS access point:
(The telephone number or GPRS access point for accessing the Internet
or Corporate network. You must complete the correct field depending on
your chosen bearer.)
-----------------------------------------------

I tried entering the phone number and login for my 56k modem ISP, but
that didn?t work, it rejected the number.

I thought AT&T was my GPRS data provider.

I called AT&T and they were clueless. They didn?t know what their ISP
gprs phone number was or why anyone would ask for it.

I noticed that the phone also asks for a ?server phone number? if you
send an SMS to a email address rather then a phone number. AT&T
didn?t know what this might be also.

i would love to be able to send SMS to email address, could you give
me the phone number for this gateway?

help.

thanx in advnce

I have not found any information on AT&T's website about the GPRS
access number, but I do find the GPRS Access Point name is "proxy"
(without the quotes). I've also found the number for AT&T customer
care: 1-866-293-4634. You should probably call them if you have
further questions.

I think the gprs access port they are asking for is also reffered to
as apn. I use the danger hiptop on tmobile and my apn is
hiptop.t-mobile.com they also have a few others depending on the data
rate plan you are on. So if you already use gprs you may be able to
find this info on your phone or you will have to sign up for gprs and
ask cust service what urs is
