............and plesae take as many as you can, just way, way too many nowdays. My Mum who lives in the countrty-side all by herself since Dad died is now afraid to go outside to hang the washing lest she be confronted by one of the few big reds in the district, i.e mostly the smaller greys where she is but just a few of the huge 6ft++ around as well. Of course most remain cautious of humans and wont attack unless cornered but when a male gets old they get senile like old man hence the common name "old man kangaroo" fo very old males. Should be able to get easy as they recently culled 20,000 on an army barracks property in my state, victoria. Just had a peppered kangaroo steak yesterday by the way. Absolutely beautiful and very similar to good beef but can only be cooked rare to medium rare, or barely medium at best, otherwise no good. Please excuse my wasting your time there but I have firm views on kangaroo numbers and what to do about it. |

I have to agree with Johnfrommelbourne. There are plenty around. Here in the West we have dozens trimming the grass in the new local "state" cemetery. In the suburbs no less!. However, the roo`s in the "proper" bush a bit further out can only be culled by registered shooters, or farmers on their own properties. Because of our very strict gun laws, the police frown on hunting parties such as are depicted in the U.S.A. a WORD OF CAUTION THOUGH. Roo`s can be infected with a type of worm in their meat and any for human consumption must be thoroughly vetted, which ups the price. Good roo meat has very low cholesterol, and is healthy tucker. Hope it works out for you. Pug. |
