I can comment on India only.

Global Audience for Indian movies - 3.6 Billion (Hollywood has 2.6
billion, dunno about UK movies)

Films/year - Easily a 1000 feature films(includes movies in Hindi -
Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi &
possible Gujurathi)

Cost - depends, on whether you are making a high-grossing blockbuster,
a medium budget hit movie or what's now known as "mutliplex" movie.
costliest till date has been around 10 mil$

Attendance figures - dont have it sorry.

DVD sales figures - Umm, 1% of the people in India would know that
there are things called "DVDs" of them 1% would buy. Outside India,
Indian movie VCDs & DVDs do good sales I am told. Sorry, dont have any
numbers. do let me know if you get them.

Piracy runs well in the cities - and it benefits the user/consumer,
like me very much. I dont have to shell out 100 rupees to watch crap
movies. Only 20 will do! (1$=44Re)

hope this helps.
