Hello kenfarrier,

There are numerous graphics-related programs either named edge.exe or
have a file named edge.exe. Can you provide any additional
information on what the program allows you to do?

Thanks,
carwfloc-ga

This is a DOS program. It is used to draw lines and graphs. My
company to draw software flow diagrams used it. It might have been
called "EDGE Design Tool". The executable program is EDGE.EXE. It is
a graphical design program. I am looking for a copy of this old
program to open up some files I have that were generated by this
program.

I found the company that sells the program. PACESTAR. They have a
free 30 day trial of the program. Thanks for everyones help.

Edge.exe is a dos program created by PACESTAR. The files I am try to
read were created by EDGE.EXE Version 5.0 by EDGE Copyrighted in 1992.
The Current release of PACESTAR EDGE DIAGRAM Version 4.1 (Windows 32
bit version) does not open my files. I need an old DOS copy of the
original PACESTAR EDGE.EXE to open my files. HELP me!!.... I need a

I've found a few items of information that may be of use in tracking
down this program.

EDGE (an acronym for Extensible Directed Graph Editor) was developed
in the early 1990s by Dr. Frances Paulisch while she was teaching at
the University of Karlsruhe, in Germany. Since Dr. Paulisch has since
left the university, the EDGE material has evidently been removed from
the university's ftp server.

While I haven't found an executable file, you can go here for the
source code, in C:

http://www.computing.edu.au/~geoff/ftp.html
(Click on "edge.tar.Z" to download the EDGE source code.)

Here is an old newsgroup posting that provides an excellent summary of
EDGE's capabilities, as described by Dr. Paulisch herself:

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=edge+%22graph+editor%22&hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&newwindow=1&safe=off&selm=1991Dec20.093917.26878%40infoserver.th-darmstadt.de&rnum=21

Dr. Paulisch has apparently been very cooperative with individuals who
have shown an interest in EDGE, so I suggest you email her for further
data.

The most recent business email address I could find for Dr. Frances
Paulisch is at the bottom of this page:

THE GOOD NEWS:

You can download a zipped version of the EDGE executable here:

http://ballade.cs.ucla.edu/~pickle/edge.html

THE BAD NEWS:

Perhaps you will have better luck than I did in getting this to run in a DOS window.
