Question ID: 42291
I am looking for a listing of the top providers of email. This list
can include both free and subscription based, as well as both
web-based and client based. I also would like to have this listing
include the number of subscribers for each provider. Additionally
this listing needs to be fairly recent--within the last year or
earlier. I need at least 30 providers.

Are you looking for the top ones in terms of number of mailboxes or in
terms of e-mails delivered? Thanks.

What precise date range will you consider "fairly recent"? For
example, from 1999 - present, 2000 - present?

E-mail providers I've investigated are very close-mouthed about their
subscriber numbers - in some cases, the only such information
available has been from 1998 or 1999.

Can you clarify the your definition of "providers of email"?
For example are you excluding rebranded solutions and virtual ISPs
(e.g. rebranded email provided by community / affinity groups) and
email services provided by ISP's bundled with Internet Access Accounts
(like AOL)?

Thanks.

Clarification #1: I am looking for the top 30+ email providers based
on the number of subscribers--mailboxes seems like the same thing.
Definitely not the number of emails delivered.

Clarification #2: I am looking for information that is not more than
a year old (nothing before July 2001--preferably something within the
year 2002). I understand this information is hard to get--that is why
I am willing to pay the amount I'm offering.

Clarification #3: My definition of "email provider" is ANY
organization that provides email, whether it's free, through an ISP,
web-based, community, etc.-- the main thing I'm interested in is that
it's based on the number of subscribers.

Thanks to all for your clarification requests. Feel free to as more
questions.

P.S. I'M RAISING THE PRICE ON THIS TO $100.00 -- Happy searching :)

Hi digex!

I assume the answer is 'no', but just to be sure, would you accept the
top 20+ ISP's, very recently ranked by and with detail on # of
subscribers (and market share info)?

Clarification to Rebeccam: Could you clarify and tell me how recent
you are talking about? Thanks.
