I need explicit instructions for how to compile and install POPPasswd,
a password daemon, on Mac OS X Server 10.1. This includes fetching
any needed libraries or header files, the compile process, and the
content of a Makefile. Reference:

Dear maintex:

Which version of POPPasswd are you using?

Also, are you sure you want POPPasswd, and not POPPassd-ceti?

maintex,

Thanks for contacting Google Answers!

It appears the PAM is not supported natively in Mac OS X Server 10.1,
as referenced in http://www.padl.com/Research/Darwin.html. However,
it does appear to be supported in Jaguar, the next release of Mac OS
X. My impression from reading your referenced items and doing a quick
Google search using terms listed above was that Poppasswd requires
PAM.

http://netwinsite.com/poppassd/#Unix_Installation shows some common
errors in compilation in poppassd, which poppasswd seems to require.
Perhaps this could lead to an answer to your question.

Best of luck.

Thanks,
arimathea-ga
