Hello, bye,

I've located the lyrics for Morningtown Ride for you:

"Morningtown Ride

1. Train whistle blowing, makes a sleepy noise,
Underneath their blankets go all the girls and boys,
Heading from the station, out along the bay,
All bound for Morningtown, many miles away.

2. Jocelyn's at the engine, Alix rings the bell,
Cole swings the lantern, to show that all is well.
Rocking rolling riding, out along the bay,
All bound for Morningtown, many miles away.

3. Maybe it is raining, where our train will ride,
But all the little travellers, are snug and warm inside.
Somewhere there is morning somewhere there is day,
Somewhere there is Morningtown, many miles away."

I knew the title of this lullabye immediately - it's featured on
"Wiggly, Wiggly world", a video produced by Australia's "The Wiggles".
My kids have practically worn their copy out:

According to a message posted in 2000 to aus.rail, the song was
written by the Aussie group "The Seekers", and may have been inspired
by a train line which ran from Melbourne to Mornington:

I would like to add just a bit to Missy's fine answer:

While "Morningtown Ride" was indeed performed by The Seekers, I am
fairly certain that it was written by the late, great Malvina
Reynolds. Some information about this folk legend may be found here:

http://www.harvardsquarelibrary.org/unitarians/reynolds.html

Ms. Reynolds' most famous song was probably "Little Boxes," which was
popularized by Pete Seeger. Those who remember this catchy ditty will
understand my reference when I say that Malvina Reynolds was
definitely not made out of ticky-tacky. :-)
