I wasn't able to find any references to such a bar in Maine, but this may be of interest: "My only good memory of customs was when i lived in a place called Newport, Vermont on Lake Memphremagog and would walk up to a place called Derby Line, to a bar that was half in Canada, half in Vermont. They would let me take a bottle of Molson Golden from one side to the other without a hassle." http://unadorned.org/dandruff/archives/2004/03/12/002362.html "Prohibition was interesting along the Vermont - Canada Border. There was a bar that was half in Canada and half in the States. Liquor was legal on the Canadian side. If cops or revenuers showed up, everyone would move to the Canadian side." http://www.blueyonder.com/flight/1stSgt/1stsergeant44.html |
