I am staying at a high end hotel in downtown San Fransisco which costs approx $330 per night. This morning I slipped in the shower fracturing my wrist. There was no shower mat in the bathtub and no strips on the bottom of the bathtub to prevent slipping. In fact, there was no bathtub mat even as an option if I wanted to use one. I just find this to be a hazard and am curious if there is a law making it mandatory for a hotel to at least have bathtub mats available for the hotel guest to use if wanted. The reason I ask this is that I think a possible lawsuit is in order pending the outcome of this answer. Many Thanks for your time. |

If I were you, I would get a medical report; tell the management and submit a written complaint. All these are VITAL! Certainly, here in the UK you could expect profuse apologies, etc. The chances are that the hotel carries insurance for this sort of thing but insurance companies are no walkover. Maybe consider an attorney who works on a contingency fee basis? But beware, it's the attornies who make the real money. You should also check your own insurances. Maybe, if you are paying by Credit Card, they provide some cover. Good luck! I'm sure it's no fun having a broken wrist. I slipped in my own tub here at home and cracked a rib ... and the tub was supposed to be non-slip! I thought of suing myself but I couldn't handle being the Claimant AND the Defendant. Perhaps next time. |
