No. That's just a lot of individual events. I'm looking for a growth
curve of eCommerce or shopping search engines. That means the same
parameter over a a period of years, plus a couple of years of
forecast.

Well...I'm finding some past growth information, and I'm finding some
forecast information, but oddly enough, nothing that has both together
in a readily comparable set of numbers.
The numbers probably exist in some of the high-price marketing reports
that are available on e-commerce, but not enough of the data from
these has been made public to piece together long-term trends and
projection information.
Would a few separate reports -- that cover the past few years, current
spending, and future forecasts -- meet your needs?

As long as I can take those figures and come up with a single graph
with a reasonable provinance showing past and projected eCommerce
dollar volume.
Jupiter Media and eMarketer would seem good sources.

Hello again.
Thanks for getting back to me som quickly. During my research, I came
across something that comes closer than anything else I've seen to
what you are asking for. Take a look at the graph on this page:

True...it's for the US, rather than worldwide, but it has a specific
focus on retail commerce (i.e., business to consumer) and presents the
data in a very straightforward trend line of the sort you're after.
Most of the available data on ecommerce is proprietary, and is tightly
controlled, so that summaries only include a teaser number here and
there to whet the appetite, but very little in the way of
well-documented trends. The above graph is the rare exception.

Although I already got my money's worth, if you come across a graph
of the same parameter (or similar) for the whole world (instead of
just the US), that would be very helpful.

Glad to hear that the information I found is on-target for what you
needed. Always looking to give our client's their "money's
worth"...and then some.
As for worldwide data, the closest I can come is Figure 14 (near the
bottom of the page) on this page here:

It covers global e-commerce from 2000-2004 (unfortunately, the link
shown for a "text file" of the data is not working).

And finally, here's another (but somewhat earlier) take on the
Forrester data I linked you to the other day, which is worth a look,
since -- along with the graph -- it offers a table with a detailed

I aksed the following, but no one has taken it up. Care to give it a try?

Thanks for the very kind rating, and for the vote of confidence about
future questions.
You can direct questions to an individual researcher by including
their name in the subject/and or the text of the question, e.g. "For
pafalafa-ga". I look forward to seeing any future challenges you
might come up with.
As for the furntirue industry question -- let me be frank. I've found
these type of market-research questions to be very elusive in my past
attempts at answering them (Google Answers gets quite a number of
queries along these lines).
Most of the information tends to reside in high-priced reports that
are inaccessible to a simple search. I got lucky on the ecommerce
forecast info, looking for a single item, but I wouldn't expect to be
similarly fortunate with a multi-part question on furniture sales
seeking very specific information.
This is probably the reason that no one's yet tackled the furniture
question for you.
However...I'll take a look, and if something comes up, I'll certainly let you know.
