Backstamp in gold paint is an oval shape, divided by two lines in the
center with a character that appears to be an elephant inside the top
oval shape. In the bottom appears to be a shrine. The piece of
lacquerware consits of three boxes in the shape of a flower with a
cover. 5 petals are painted on the cover. 4 are painted black and 1
red, with gold
accents,it has a flower shaped knob in the center. The 3 boxes have
scenes of rabbits, flowers, bamboo, etc.painted on the outside and
have black interiors. Again 1 of the sections is painted red and 4 are
black. The lacquer is intact, with some "dulling" to a few sections
like perhaps hot water was poured on the piece. It has 5 carved
footrests on the bottom box positioned at the petal points. I would
like to know the approximate age and worth of this piece if possible
from the above info. Thank you. |
