Hello thalamus-ga,
I would like to clarify that my comment about the shortage of doctors
performing the procedure was not due to lack of research but by some
of the early answers I received during my efforts.
Here are some examples of answers I received from clinics and doctor
offices:
"...We can only offer Mr. ..., as you will find if you continue to
search for surgeons there are not many that perform this type of
surgery ..."
"...The only surgeon really doing those in any numbers is Mr. ..."
Plus the same names where coming up over and over again which lead me
to think that only one or at the most two surgeons where performing
calf implants.
But this morning I found the third one and so I'm posting this answer.
I am sure that if nenna-ga will find more she will publish her
findings and I will do the same if some more answers from doctors and
clinics will come in in the next few days (but I doubt that will be
the case).
I will list now the clinics and the doctors together with the original
answers so that information is not lost in the process.
The first clinic is:

Natalie Hope from Highgate Private Hospital writes to me:
"... We can only offer Mr. Khan, as you will find if you continue to
search for surgeons there are not many that perform this type of
surgery. . Mr. Khan Charges a £50.00 consultation fee and the cost of
the operation would be £2750.00 for one side and £3600.00 for both
legs. If you do need any further information or would like to book a
consultation please contact me on 0800 328 6622 Regards Nathalie Hope"
She also sent a Body Implant brochure as an attachment, I copied it at
the end of this answer.
I also obtained the direct number of Mr. Khan from Mr. Edward
Latimer-Sayer.
When I called Mr. Khan he seemed pleased to know that Mr.
Latimer-Sayer gave me his number and he was much more willing to give
the information I was looking for after I mention that. Here is the
private number:
"Please try Mr. Saif Khan on 129 Harley St. 07970 600317. I know that
he has implanted a few recently. He works at Highgate Hospital.
Yours sincerely,
Edward Latimer-Sayer"
The second clinic is:
The Wellington Hospital
Wellington Place
London , NW8 9LE
Telephone: +44 (0)20 75865959
Fax: +44 (0)20 74835030
The surgeon doing those at Wellington is Mr. D. Harrison. His private
data as provided to me by a fellow surgeon Mr. A. Grobbelaar are as
follows:
"... Mr. D. Harrison Address Suite 2, Queen Anne Street, LONDON, W1M
9LD. Phone 020 7580 7555.
A. Grobbelaar"
Here are Mr. Harrison fees, they refer to both legs. For one leg it
would be less.
All prices are in English Pounds.
consultation 100
surgery 2000

hospital 600
implant around 800 (depending on the type)
The Third clinic is:
The Hurlingham Clinic

Diana Davy writes to me:
"Thank you for your enquiry. I am pleased to say that this is
something our surgeon can perform for you. The surgeon's name is Mr.
Daniel P. Goldberg, who is American born and trained. He is the only
American on the Specialist Register of Plastic Surgery in the UK and
is an exceptionally able and experienced surgeon. Details of both him
and our clinic are on our website, through which your enquiry has
reached us. We also received an enquiry on your behalf from the
Cromwell Hospital. I told them I would answer your questions.
Total cost of the procedure would be in the region of £4,500. This
would include fees for surgeon, hospital, anesthetist and follow up
visits for one year.
A consultation is full, frank and completely without obligation.
Your questions will be welcomed and answered fully. The one-hour
consultation will cover discussion of your expectations, medical
examination, a note of any relevant medical history, details of the
procedure, risks, recovery and costs. A consultation with our surgeon
is £120.
The Hurlingham Clinic is situated in Fulham and is easily accessible
by road or public transport, being within a few minutes walk from
Putney Bridge underground station. Our telephone number is 020 7348
6380 we would be delighted to see you.

I used mostly e-mail and a few phone calls for my research. I emailed
to many plastic surgery clinics and all the plastic surgeons in London
for which I could find e-mail addresses. The British Association of
Plastic Surgeons website www.baaps.org.uk was very useful.
I hope you are satisfied with the answer. I will let you know if more
answers will come in by posting the new findings as comments
Good luck if you decide to undergo the procedure!

Highgate Private Hospital Body Implants brochure
Body Implants
Introduction
Like many people you may be unhappy with parts of your body that you
consider too small or the wrong shape. No matter what amount and type
of exercise you do, you just cannot get your body the way you want.
Your body may not be genetically designed to have the shape you are
seeking or sometimes a form of injury or disease can affect muscle
development. Embarrassment can mean that you try to cover up the area
resulting in self-restriction of activities and clothing.
How Body Implants Surgery is Performed
Body implants are performed under a general anesthetic. Implants are
inserted through incisions in natural body creases.
Calf Implants are performed with the patient lying face down. An
incision is made at the natural crease at the back of the knee where
the surgeon creates a pocket for the implant. The implant is then
sutured into place. During a buttock implant procedure the incision
is made at the base of the buttock where it meets the leg. Each
implant is then slid up underneath the skin and into position. During
pectoral implants the surgeon makes the incision in each armpit and
then implant is then positioned.
Post Operative Management
After surgery the area surrounding the implant may be slightly swollen
and bruised. Any numbness and tightness will usually subside after a
few days as the body becomes accustomed to the implant. Sutures will
be removed around 10 days after the operation. Walking is encouraged
as it help to reduce the risk of thrombosis.
Most people are able to go back to work within a week. Smoking and
alcohol should be avoided during this period as they prolong swelling.
Strenuous activities should be avoided for up to 6 weeks.
Results
Implants provide an immediate result and they appear quite natural,
even during exercise. They offer you the chance to change the body
part you dislike and have the shape you have always desired.
As with all types of cosmetic surgery, the benefit received from body
implants will depend on the change in attitude a patient has about
themselves following surgery. Increased confidence and self
perception will allow a patient to enjoy new possibilities for
changing their image and try activities that they were once too
embarrassed to participate in. |
