Where do you live? (Country/State will do)

Is your inheritance the total value of the deceased's estate or just one parcel?

Was there a Will?

I live in Virginia.
My inheritance was just one parcel.
Yes, there was a will.

What was the total value of the estate?

Did the Will make any mention of who should pay the Inheritance Tax, if any?

The total value of the estate was over 2,075,000.00.
I do not know if the Will made any mention of who would pay the inheritance tax.
Let's asume I pay the taxes for my share.

According to this:

http://www.bankrate.com/brm/itax/edit/state/profiles/state_tax_Va.asp

There is apparently no inheritance in Virginia and the estate tax is
limited and related to federal estate tax collection.

For further information, visit the Virginia Department of Taxation
site or call 804-367-2062.

Worth a call!

For the benefit of other researchers who may have the accounting
expertise to be more helpful than I can on this question, the "issue
brief" linked below appears to contain the information on Virginia law
that is necessary to answer the question:

debby7 --

It is not entirely clear from your question whether you are interested
only in the amount of Virginia state inheritance tax, if any, that
will be due from your share of the estate, or if you are also
interested in the larger amount (the "federal estate tax") that is
paid by a taxable estate to the federal government before it is
distributed to the heirs.

What is the percentage due on federal inheritance tax?
