Include a wide variety of services as you consider the question. In
addition to those already mentioned, think of a week's stay at a
resort, riding one of the soon-to-be-available privately-operated
rockets to outer space (100 kilometers high) and returning, a cruise,
going to a movie, renting a movie, a dentist filling a tooth cavity,
an insurance policy, a university degree or course, registering to
vote, marriage counseling, a boat slip at a marine dock, hiring a
manager for one's musical or acting career. Do these create wealth?
Why or why not? What is the basis for your response?

Most of the things you mentioned are consumed quickly leaving little
resedue that can be considered wealth. If however you make lots of
money selling a book about your adventure into space, then there was
considerable resedue that can be considered wealth. If you live in
France where wealth is taxed, I have no idea where the tax collector
draws the line. Neil

Neil hits on a key point: many of these are consumptive. However,
even there you have to ask yourself: is Bill Gates better off mowing
his own lawn -- or contracting it out and devoting himself to "higher
value" activities?

Some are not consumptive: an education is an investment.

And some services are necessary to a larger value-creation process: an
example being the reservation service for your airline flight.

Might I suggest a Google search strategy using:
"service industry" value added
