What is the Gross National Product of Belgium? I need GNP, NOT the
GDP. And I'd like a source that is official, i.e. I've found it on
sites like studentsoftheworld.info, but there must be some official
statistical tabulating organization. The CIA World Factbook lists GDP
only. And I'd like as current as possible (2004 would be great).

Dear politicalchick-ga,
I have found a Belgium Government web site which lists GNI and GDP,
and GNI per capita and GDP per capita for Belgium from 1994 to 2003.

I note from the World Bank glossary that "since 2001, the World Bank
refers to the GNP as the GNI, gross national income."

Can you confirm as to whether this is the information you are seeking?

Yes that is the information I would like. I also saw that the World
Bank now uses GNI instead of GNP and I found the information on the
World Bank website since I asked the question. So, I'd like to know,
are there any other sources or authorities which compile this sort of
data? And I may need the number in total, not per capita. I'm still
having difficulty with this part because most of the sites I've found
list it per capita. Thanks for your help.

Dear politicalchick-ga,
I see you have found the data on Belgium that you require.

Apart from the World Bank (I assume that you accessed this page where
you can find country profiles and the GNI, Atlas method for 2003).
http://devdata.worldbank.org/external/CPProfile.asp?SelectedCountry=BEL&CCODE=BEL&CNAME=Belgium&PTYPE=CP
"GNI (formerly GNP) is the sum of value added by all resident
producers plus any product taxes (less subsidies) not included in the
valuation of output plus net receipts of primary income (compensation
of employees and property income) from abroad."
http://www.worldbank.org/data/countrydata/countrydata.html

I don?t think I can help you as regards to current GNI data which can
be accessed on any other site. Sites like Nationmaster.com have 2001
international data on GNI, but as you can see it is not current.

Tiscali has similar data on each country?s description
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/reference/encyclopaedia/countryfacts/belgium.html

Perhaps another researcher may be more successful. Of course, if this
does answer you question, let me known and I shall post it as an
answer.
