We want to identify as many as possible software companies that
develop and deploy mobile content solutions.
Example of such companies are:
Elata
http://www.elata.com/
Firsthop
http://www.firsthop.com/about/FH%20Company%20Sheet---10-2003-10.pdf
Mobile Web Surf
http://www.mobilewebsurf.com/
Maia Solutions
http://www.maiasolutions.co
MediaBricks
http://www.mediabricks.com/
The content solution that they have developed and deployed should have
server based component that can:
1: integrate with the mobile operator?s billing, provisioning,
authentication and customer management system.
2: can process content feeds in various formats (RSS, xml,..)
3: can interact with the handset using either wap or a handset based
client software (e.g., java client or ?)
The information that we need about these companies is:
? Country of operation
? Contact information: email, phone, postal address
? Web site
? Company size (number of employees)
? Revenue figures for the last two years
? Examples of mobile operators where they have deployed their
solution. Here we need following info: mobile operator name, country
where the mobile operator is providing services, date of
implementation, what results were achieved with the solution
? Information about who owns the company (main investors)
We want to identify such software companies across the world (Europe -
primarily UK but also in other European countries, US, Canada, China,
Philippines, Japan, Australia, Russia
This is an urgent request and a fast and exhaustive answer will
receive a generous tip.
Thank you in advance. |

Dear vlk,
I have noticed your "urgent request". However, it is possible that it
is not answered yet because you haven't mentioned how many companies
would satisfy you, only written "as many as possible".

Hi vlk-ga!
I am interested to answering your question but it seems that another
difficulty are the requirements you have for the following
information:
? Company size (number of employees)
? Revenue figures for the last two years
? Information about who owns the company (main investors)
Such info are not always available especially if these are private companies.
Would the absence of such information be still acceptable as answer?
Thanks.

Dear Easterangel,
The absence of such information is acceptable, if this data is not
available on the company?s website.
In the case of most private companies you can replace the information
about owners with information about the last financing round (date of
the last financing round and amount of capital invested).
Thank you.

Hmmm... another question will be are you strict about the
requirements of countries you mentioned since most of the companies I
found are from Europe. Would that be ok or you really like a good
representation across continents?
Plus if we can't find both "onwer information" or "last financing
round" will that still be ok?
I hope you be patient with our questions since most of us here want to
be sure that deletions to some of your requirements will still be ok
with you due to the undertaking that will need to be done to finish
this project.
Thanks again!

Dear Easterangel,
Regarding geographic representation:
It is OK to have more companies from Europe. However, I need examples
also from other continents. To give a specific guidance: Of the 25
companies 15 can be from Europe, 5 from America (North, South) and 5
from Asia-Pacific. Some fluctuation (plus minus 2 per geographic
region) is OK, as long as the total remains at 25 companies.
Regarding owner information, last financing round:
It is OK if such information is not listed on the company website.
Thank you for taking the time to clarify the requirements.

Hi again vlk-ga!
It seems that even customer lists are not that consistent among these
types of companies. Some lists them (customers) while others don't
maybe because they are still new. Would companies without customer
lists still be ok for inclusion in my answer?
I am starting to collect the info for the companies and currently have
5 European and 5 US based companies. I will try to find some more.
Thanks!

Another thing is that some companies operate in different countries.
Would such companies be used as a supplement to regions wherein there
will be limited representation like for example Asia?
Thanks!

In the requirement:

where the mobile operator is providing services, date of
implementation, what results were achieved with the solution"
Would a simple link to the list of clients be ok?
Update: I now have collected the number of companies per region.
Europe: 9
North America: 7
Asia: 1
I will still be on the hunt for more after you've given your reply to
my new set of clarifications.
Thank you for your patience.

16 Nov 2004 02:02 PST
Dear Easterangel,
Thank you for doing this work. Here is clarification to the points you
raised above:
Regarding companies without customer lists:
No, please do not include these companies in the final list. I need
to see examples of their work.
Regarding companies operating in different regions:
Please find examples of companies that are based and operate in the
individual regions.
Regarding link to the list of clients:
Yes, a link to the list of clients is sufficient. Ideally it should
be a link to the page on a software company?s web site where they talk
about the customer credentials.
Note: I see that you have only one company in Asia. Please try
searching countries with highly developed mobile phone markets such as
Japan, South Korea or countries with highly developed outsourcing
industries such as India, China, Philippines.
Thank you for your work.

Hi again! Thanks for coming back and for being so patient. This is a
really tough project.
In your response: "Regarding companies operating in different regions:
Please find examples of companies that are based and operate in the
individual regions."
This is a big question for me since most if not all of the companies
mentioned here have branches in different countries. For example a
company you mentioned above like Elata. Elata has has an office in the
UK and in Singapore.

Will this be ok?

After reviewing what I have and the ones that are out there it seems
that it is very hard to find companies that have the qualities you
need even if we have already stripped them down to the minimum
requirements. The frustrating findings are:
a. A great number of companies do not have lists of customers on their websites.
b. Very few companies in Asia are spot on your requirements and
ususally they don't list their customers and they don't have some of
the necessary details.
c. The European firms are mostly in London or in Ireland. While there
are other firms in Europe again their websites do not show the needed
detail you require.
I think I will have to give other researchers the chance to take a
crack at this. I hope they do a better job in finding your
requirements.
Thanks!

on
16 Nov 2004 06:50 PST
Dear Easterangel,
Thank you very much for trying to answer the question.
Please summarize for me your results so far:
1: How many companies you identified by geographic area (geography is
identified by the company?s main office)?
2: How many companies have client examples/credentials?
3: How many companies have revenue figures or funding information?
4: How many companies have ownership information?
Depending on how far you got we can decide on one of the following option:
a: I keep the question open for other researchers to answer.
b: If no other researcher tries to answer in lets say 24 to 48 hours I
close this question and open up a new one with a lower price (that
would correspond to the amount of info that you collected so far) and
you post your answer against that question.
c: Some other option that you can suggest.
I am new at using google answers so I will welcome any suggestions on
how to get to the answer to my query.
Thanks again.

1. Total of 14 companies
Singapore = 1
Ireland = 2
England = 3
Sweden = 1
Canada = 1
USA = 8
2. The number of companies I found that shows as having customers
(sometimes they call them as partners) = 13
3. 8 (I thought that once I had the owner information, I do not need
the investor data. This is the reason why I included some that does
not have investor information.)
4. All 14 of them.
Actually I had more companies earlier but I deleted some of them when
you say you want only those that show customer lists.
Note: The geographical and customer requirements are really tough. I
know you have greatly relaxed a lot of the parameters of this research
so I did not ask anymore for the deletion on geographical and customer
lists.
I hope this would be of help.
Thanks once more.

Dear Easterangel,
Thank you for answering the question. I find the answer very good.
Before I rate the answer, could you please add links to the product
descriptions on the companies' web sites? By that I mean the part of
their web site where they describe the server based component that
can:
1: integrate with the mobile operator?s billing, provisioning,
authentication and customer management system.
2: can process content feeds in various formats (RSS, xml,..)
3: can interact with the handset using either wap or a handset based
