Dear junojonah-ga;
Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question. Maria
Teresa Thiersten Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry is a wealthy woman
indeed, but depending on the definition of billionaire one uses, she
may not (technically) be considered a billionaire (or ?billionairess?,
to be more accurate).
?A precise valuation of Heinz Kerry's net worth was difficult because
key details about her investments are not contained in the public
record. The newspaper said its estimates ranged from $900 million to
$3.2 billion but cited financial experts as saying $1 billion was a
"fair and conservative" valuation.?
?The money is primarily held by seven trust funds and several other
investment accounts that benefit her and three children and support
charitable donations.?

However, besides her family holdings, Teresa Heinz-Kerry oversees
three large nonprofit corporations in Pittsburgh and Washington with
total assets of $1.2 billion that focus on the arts, education,
women's health and the environment, among other causes. This is in
addition to a network of investments in blue-chip corporations,
venture capital funds and municipal bonds, a private Gulfstream jet,
and five homes in various locations around the United States valued at
nearly $33 million.
Boston: A five-story, 12-room Beacon Hill townhouse that serves as
Kerry's main residence. Assessed value: $6.9 million.
Nantucket, Mass.: A three-story, five-bedroom waterfront retreat on
Brant Point. Assessed value: $9.18 million.
Washington, D.C.: A 23-room townhouse in Georgetown. Proposed 2005
assessment: $4.7 million.
Ketchum, Idaho: A ski getaway converted from a reassembled barn near
Sun Valley. Assessed value: $4.916 million. Heinz Kerry owns two
adjoining lots valued at $1.5 million and $1.8 million.
Fox Chapel, Pa.: A nine-room colonial on nearly 90 acres in suburban
Pittsburgh. The property also includes a nine-room, carriage house.
Assessed value: $3.7 million.

Three senior executives at investment companies that handle accounts
for wealthy clients reviewed The Los Angeles Times' analysis which
estimates Heinz-Kerry?s worth at somewhere between $900 million and as
high as $3.2 billion and said the $1 billion valuation was not only a
fair estimate, but a ?conservative? one.

Heinz Kerry's fortune might top $1 billion

Now all that sound wonderful, but the question is, how much would she
be worth is she sold everything she now owns OURTIGHT and liquidated
everything she has a legal right to cash in and turned it into
dollars?
In short, Princeton University's Cognitive Science Laboratory defines
?a billionaire? as a person whose MATERIAL wealth is valued at MORE
than a billion dollars. In spite of all the things she appears to
control and own, it's doubtful that Heinz-Kerry could manage to fill
sack with a billion dollars in cash if she sold all her MATERIAL
posessions at today's fair market value. It would end up being a lot
more money that one man could carry (or Kerry...sorry, I couldn't
resist) but it would still fall way short of one billion dollars.

Is Teresa Heinz-Kerry she a billionaire?
If we go by Princeton's definition, "No" she is not (as of today, that is).
