I would like to know how many actors/actresses there are in America as
well as in the world at this present time (present time being either
from this past month (October/November) or from this past year
(2004)). I would also like to know how many of those actors/actresses
have agents at this present time.
*Percentages are ok, but I would prefer an actual number.

This is going to be tough, since there is no hard and fast definition
of "actor." Even if you limit it to performers who have appeared in
professional productions, you still have a vague term. For instance,
many years ago I had a role in a short film that was used by Planned
Parenthood in training its counselors. Does that make me an actress?
Would I be included in the tally, even though I've never again
appeared in any professional productions? And what about all the
wannabes who are working as carhops and waiters in Los Angeles, taking
acting classes, and hoping for their big breaks? Are they actors and
actresses?

I would say yes to all your questions, because one doesn't have to
reach their "big break" in order to be considered an actor or an
actress. I will make this less vague by asking for how many college
students in America are majoring in acting, and how many of them have
agents? College students being undergraduate as well as graduate
students.
