I located a November 2003 article in the Birmingham Business Journal discussing
Atherotech Inc. This article mentions the number of cholesterol tests
that are administered in the United States.

A Business Wire article about Nymox Pharmaceutical Corporation dated
October 22, 2004 also gives an estimate of the number of cholesterol
tests that are taken in the United States.

The number of tests is good, but I am looking for the market value for
the tests (the number of dollars spent).
