Ancestry.com, 1870 census lists a George A. Munson born in 1861 with a
birthplace of Iowa and currently living in Pettis Platte, MO. No
birth date though.

Do you need any other biographical facts about Munson? I have access
to a trial database of historical newspapers and have found any
articles about George Munson but none that list his birthdate.

bowler,

It's my great pleasure to meet you. It looks as if you've found our
man. But I do require some linkage, to make sure we have the right
guy. All we need is a date now. Looks as if you've got a year, which
is good. Keep it up! You're so close. I know you can do it.

Bluestreak,

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm sorry I've come up empty.
The articles I've read are from the Chicago Tribune and the New York
Times from 1890-1908 and include all sorts of information about George
Munson, such as he led his team to four straight championships, he
came from New York to St. Louis in 1883 and he died from double
pneumonia. I can confirm the date of death but that is no help to
you.

I did find this concerning our George Munson from Iowa born in 1861:

bowler,

Oh so close, yet so far. I feel as if you're almost shaking hands
with him, and yet . . . I have the articles from proquest, but need
the DOB. Oh well.
I'd like to thank you for taking a look at my questions. I have a
couple others, if you'd like. I hope we can work together again soon.

For what it's worth, the 1900 census (St Louis) shows George W.
Munson, occupation "newspaper," born August 1860 in New York. He was
married to Lizzie about 1888, and they had two kids by 1900. That
still doesn't give us the day of birth, and of course there's no
guarantee that census data is correct.

jgcookie,

After looking over the comments, I'd like to credit you with a
sucessful answer. You provided a middle initial, and a birth
yr./month. Even though I still haven't received a date, you found
enough to earn a reward. And your answer did have linkage with his
occupation as newpaper. You even provided a place of birth.

So, if you could re-submit your answer as a completed, found answer, I
can credit and tip you for your nice work. Thank you so very much.
Bowler, I apologize, but I must credit JGcookie, since they provided
some linkage. bluestreak

Actually both jgcookie and I are not "official researchers" and cannot
therefore post an offcial answer. You'll notice the names of
"official researchers" are hyperlinked (underlined and blue). Thank
you for your kind comments and we hope to see you again on this
service.
