Hello,
I have a Nokia 6230 and Nokia Phone Suite 6.2 on my PC running Win XP.
Over the past six months I have been backing up my text messages using
the "Contacts and Messages" option in the phone suite, which launches
as "Nokia Phone Editor 4.6". I have backed them up using sub folders
as they are organised by sender.
I have just purchased a new computer and am in the process of backing
up all my files ready to transfer across, however I have hit the
following problem.
1.) I can't find out where Nokia Phone Editor stores the information
on the PC, so that I can swap out the blank files in the fresh install
and replace with my data (very much like swaping out Microsoft Outlook
Express folders into a fresh install to retain your messages).
I have looked in the obvous locations such as the programs root
directory and Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings and
Application Data no no avail - I have only discovered the files used
for the "Backup and Restore" of the phones current state (this does
not include the text messages already backed up on the PC)
2.) I can find no way that these files can be saved as a text file,
spreadsheet, word document or similar so that they can be easily
searched if need be as the database is getting quite vast (around
4,000 messages in total) so they can be exported out of Nokia Phone
Editor.
Options that I have considered, but are not freasble include:
1.) Manual "Copy and Paste" of the whole database
2.) Printing the database using a "print to file" method, then using
an OCR to translate the image into editable text and then import into
Excel.
There MUST be an internal way to get at the information both to swap
into my new install and to backup as editable, searchable text. |
