This sounds like it has no definite solution.
However why not look at servcices like Google or Yahoo they offer
something of value to their customers.

You should have a web site that is easy to use search engine friendly
and helps your customers in some important way.

You could also pay Google to get listed. Getting links from other web sites helps.

Hi,

from my experience absolutely the best way to attract targeted
visitors to your website actually in a few minutes is Google's
AdWords. Setup a campaign with Google AdWords, write an appealing and
attractive ad - specifically on Montreal's Hotel and in a few minutes
you can reach your potential customers!

I've had success with specific ads, and I know no other way how to
attract visitors in that very short time.

Hi,

Apart from what has been suggested, there are more ways. I am listing
only two of them based on personal preference.

One would be to exchange links, build links from various directories,
guides and websites. Some links can be reciprocal and some others
could be purchased. For link exchange, some of the partners could be
travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, etc.

Other is what is called SEO or Search Engine Optimization. This is to
get your website listed ahead of others in a search engine for a
particular set of keywords in a particular fashion (for example
placing them in the title tag, image tags, etc).

I hope this helps.

Narendra

List yourself at Yahoo, Google and other search engines and their
yellow pages so your listing comes up as a preferred vendor.

Hire a web company to "publish" your site at as many search engines as possible.

Pay for pop-up ads at yahoo, msn, and google so that people type in
words like: montreal. hotel, food, bed and breakfast, quebec, etc that
your ad pops up on their pages.

Add as many hidden words as possible on your web pages so that
anything that is type with canada, quebec, etc will cause your site to
come up at the top of the search page.

Many worthwhile "safelists" have been around for years, with thousands
of members and in some cases even millions. Some of the best sources
I've seen are at ListUser.com and anyhomebiz.com
You should take care to use only double opt-in membership lists as
this totally eliminates spam and all good lists are monitored for
clean, safe opperation.
You could also look into website traffic exchanges, which provide fre
advertising for your website in return for your own viewing of others.
 I hope this helps.

1. Do not listen to "easy ways" of getting the job done. They seldom
work, never work for long, and can backfire.
2. Buy the bokok "Search Engine Optimization for Dummies." Read it, or
get your web developer to read it.
3. The best thing you'll learn is simple: make a site that people
actually want to visit. That desirability is what search engines are
looking to model, so it must be your guiding principle. To this end,
add a lot of useful, interesting, well-organized and fast-loading
content on your website. Hotels in Montreal? Well, apart from the
hotels, how about lists of local restaurants near the hotes. History
pages. Photo pages. French phrase pages.
4. Try to get as many legitimate links as you can. Did you rave about
a restaurant? Call them up and ask for a link. Although many factors
are important, links are paramount. But again, don't lose sight of the
point: links are valuable because they are "votes" for your site. If
you accumulate junk links from pages about other topics or (shudder)
go in for "link farms" you will reap, at best, no benefit, and at
worse, disaster. Outsmarting the search engines consistently is very
very hard. If you were smart enough to do it, your time would probably
be better spent pattenting cold fusion devices.
5. Once you have a good site, good content, links and the other things
a book like "Search Engine Optimization" will tell you about, then you
can consider Adwords, Overture, flyering neighborhoods in Queens, etc.

Although my son use to work there and does not any longer, I would
contact Traffic Power off the web. For a modest sum they do wonders at
seach engine placement. It's reasonable compared to most others and it
work.

Here is my suggestion.

Write free-reprint articles about travel featuring Montreal. Mention
your Hotel site and how they can guide travelers to montreal.

Submit your articles to article repository sites. These sites also
offers publishers to use the submitted articles for their sites as
long as they keep the authors bio and reprint the article
word-for-word.

You see this is a free way of promoting your site and also getting
much more traffic from trageted audiences same way increasing your
back-links and SEO.

Article sites with hight PR that allows clickable links in your bylines:
