Why it is important to study/know/understand how newspapers frame gay and lesbian issues? Clarifications: As a communicator I am interested to know how framing affects public opinion and public policies, for example, how newspapers reporting on same-sex marriage could affect the elections on November 2nd, etc. |

Hi comunicado, The GLAAD website is a great place to start. " The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation." http://www.glaad.org/ These might be useful keywords: media framing priming gay issues media frameworks gay issues communications resources queer media It's a fascinating topic! Good luck with your research. * j * |
