Nobody has said it yet, to my knowledge ...

But would someone please go on record by saying that Sir Alex
Ferguson's job is not 'on the line', despite the disastrous run of his
very expensive team?

This should be emphasised by confirming that the Board has every faith in him.

And, the second part of my question is:

Who's going to replace him?

My guess is Glenn Hoddle ...

He must get lucky eventually.

Well, I should have guessed that this question was too difficult for
most of youse out there ...

But many thanks for your thoughts, Willie, you are still one of the
very best even though as rare as the yeti these days.

All the Best

As a Scot I have to stand up for Ferguson....he is a fine upstanding
citizen, a little ray of sweetness and light in an otherwise dour and
depressing world and ..... I'm sure the Board has every faith in him
and his abilities and he'll be remaining a staunch servant of the club
for as long as he wishes to stay...... that's enough, I can't keep
that up for long.

His job is not on the line....not until they go out of Europe anyway.
Besides, without him they'd lose the chewing-gum advertising contract.

As for replacing him.... my money's on Martin O'Neill

PS I'm old enough to remember seeing Fergie as a player for Rangers in
the sixties.... he was sweetness and light even then :)

Hoots mon, Willie

I met a Scotsman down here in England the other week and I asked him
if they still played football in Scotland.

'Och aye,' he said (you know how they talk up there), 'We play soccer,
rugby union and rugby league ...

However we don't win many matches ...

But we always win the punch-up afterwards.'

I am amazed that you even admit to having watched Fergie as a player.

Or was that a confession?

I refuse to take football abuse from an Oldham supporter!

I started going to football matches in about 1964, on my father's
shoulders. Mainly to see Kilmarnock, the closest team to home, but
often to Ibrox to see Rangers. Amazing crowds in those days....over
120,000.

I've just about given up on football completely nowadays... I might go
back to it if a team from Glasgow (say) contained any players actually
from the city. The teams of foreign mercenaries, both north and south
of the border just leave me cold. I prefer the old tribal loyalties :)
