In looking at the specs for a Sanyo Model HT30744 HDTV set I found a spec I don't understand. It states that the digital scanning format is 1080i - OK. Then in a spec for "PICTURE RESOLUTION" it states "330 lines/antenna input" and "800 lines/video input". What does this mean? Is the potential of the 1080i format degraded to a lower resolution???? |

Resolution is measured by vertical lines, per unit of picture height and 330 lines is the theoretical maximum from normal TV or NTSC standard. 800 lines/video input it the theoetical maximum you can get by connecting a source through the yellow RCA/S-Video connectors (i.e: a DVD player) Basically they are telling you ... yeah our screen can do 1080i but if you are using these inputs the maximum we are going to be able to display is these other figures. The TV upconverts the signal so it can be displayed on the screen but it won't be pretty. |
