I have a friend who wants to start a bail bondsman business in
Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have been able to find a couple of sites
about bondsmen, but most of it has been vague. I need to know either
(1) who to talk to (government sources, etc), or (2) where I can find
information that would give my friends a step-by-step "guide" to how
to get licensed and start up.

Here's what we know:

We know there is some training involved.
A bail bondsman needs to be licensed by the state (New Mexico in this case).
We know a bondsman secures loans in order to place the bond, then gets
commission after the offender goes to trial and the loan is re-paid.

What we don't know:

Who to talk to to get started (school, a state, etc)
How to get licensed.
What exactly is involved in the life of a bail bondsman (ie, the process)

In effect, this is something that is almost completely new to myself
and my friend. We don't know where to go to start things off.
