What is the current state of the NHL? Why is there a lockout?
Is it to do with revenues?
Salary Caps?
High player salaries?
Too many unprofitable teams?
Low ratings, low attendance?
Revenue Sharing?
The tv deals?

I'm an NFL fan so i have no idea about hockey

Thanks!

The NHL Lockout matter is a fairly complicated and multifaceted one
that has to do with many of the issues you mentioned. Rather than try
and recap what is known (and end up writing what would appear to be an
novel on sports business and economics) I think you'll find just about
everything you need to know from this single link, which appears to
explain the fundamentals of the lockout in a way that even someone
relatively unfamiliar with the game could understand.

Please be kind enough to let me know if this answers your question.

It's bad in the NHL, however, the good news is that the CHL (Central
Hockey League ) is expanding. In fact, for the 2006-2007 season, they
are planning on putting franchise in Monterrey Mexico....YOu heard
right HOCKEY IN MEXICO!

Read the story at http://www.mexicohockey.com

So it seems that the NHL is dropping the ball and others will pick it up!
Go Hockey!
