What ever happened to the venerable old stick gum? Even Juicy Fruit has now gone to a "chicklet" form. This is a serious question, btw... I'm looking for some simple trends -- is stick gum on its way out? Just some interesting facts about the death of stick gum. |

Where are you located? I live in New York and stick gum is not a rare commodity. |

I hate "Chiclet" style gum. It reminds me of M&Ms with gum inside instead of chocolate. Apparently I am in the minority. This survey about gum preferences found that most people prefer tablets over sticks: "The 'tablets' were generally preferred to the sticks for ease ofconsumption. If you?re driving you can pop a piece out, the other gum you?vegot to mess about." http://www.defra.gov.uk/environment/localenv/litter/pdf/gumdroppers1.pdf Fortunately, in my area (northeastern Oklahoma), stick gum is plentiful. |
