I recently purchased a Samsung SCH-A530 phone. It is a Verizon
branded phone, but my cellular provider is Alaska DigiTel. Alaska
DigiTel has not activated their 3G services and I cannot use the "Get
It Now" button, BREW, WAP, email, txt, etc.
I have purchased a USB data cable for the phone, and use Windows XP
Home Edition on my laptop. The cable did not, however, come with any
drivers for the phone. The computer recognizes that the phone is
plugged in, but the installation wizard cannot install the phone. I
am looking for any way to transfer ring tones and wallpapers to the
phone using that data cable. I have read forums that mention briefly
BitPim and GAGIN, tools that I might use to do this. I have
downloaded BitPim, although I don't know if it will be of any use, but
I have not yet been able to find GAGIN. I have also heard of the
Qualcomm Purevoice .qcp file standard for polyphonic ringtones,
although I am not aware of what program I might use to manipulate them
or where I could download them. I am capable with Photoshop and can
manipulate images to create my wallpapers to any file specifications
provided. I am also highly computer literate, and worked 5 years ago
selling and programming cell phones, but of course cell phone
technology has changed rather dramatically since then.
Please tell me:
-what program I need to use to transfer images and ringtones to the phone using
my data cable and very basic instructions for how to use that program
-what specs the images need to follow to be usable on the phone
-what program I can use to manipulate and/or create polyphonic ringtone files
or where I can download polyphonic ringtones to my computer that I
will be able to transfer to the phone via data cable |
