I have a question about medical malpractice in the state of Michigan.
Can you please explain how the costs are figured that are to be paid
by the plaintiff? For expample, what is the difference between the
1/3 that the attorney takes from a verdict or settlement in fees and
the cost of undertaking such a case? Are the case costs (expert
witnesses, obtaining medical records, mileage, phone calls, etc) and
the 1/3 attorney fees completely seperate things? Is the 1/3 taken
after the costs of the case are deducted from the verdict/settlement?
Are there laws in each state or is it similar through the nation?
