I know that if you get a speeding ticket in any state in the US, your state's RMV will find out about it, as well as your insurance company. However, if you get a speeding ticket in Canada and you live in the US (in my case, MA), is there any way that you can be forced to pay that ticket? Can your insurance ever find out? It seems to me like they'd have no way of collecting... Am I right? Thanks |

They probably wont send you to collections, but if you come back to the province where you got the ticket the fine will be on record. The Province will suspend your right to drive in that province. If you are found driving the police can arrest you for Driving While Suspended. The fine is 1000 dollars, and or 6 months in Jail. Also you may be required to put up a bond, for your release pending trial. If you have questions about tickets in Canada, check out www.OntarioTrafficTickets.com, and you can email your questions.
