Question ID: 427046
How do I get the dialing wizard to use a calling card? I have entered
the card info in the phone dialog boxes, but it tries to access the
number directly and ignores the calling card info. Since I do not have
a long distance carrier, it does not work. I have set up a new phone
profile as suggesed by the MS knowledge base site, but it did not
help. My OS is Win 2000 Pro. I am very experienced with PC and problem
solving, but this has me stumped.

Hi skyracer,

I'm not sure if this is the solution you've already tried or not...

Fax Service Does Not Use Dialing Rule Calling Card Information:
"To use calling card settings, set the appropriate calling card
settings for an administrator, and configure the Fax service to run
under that administrator account.

To configure the Fax service to run under a user's account:
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Administrative Tools.
3. Double-click Services.
4. Right-click Fax Service, and then click Properties.
5. Click the Log On tab.
6. Click This Account.
7. Add a local account name with administrator rights. This changes
the Fax service from running in the default local System account to an
administrator account with access to the per-user settings.
8. Click OK."

Please let me know if that helps.
Good luck!

Wow! That is not what I tried, and I never would have found it. Did
not know that fax dialing needed special 'permission'. The dialog
boxes that are available when Faxing from Word make it look like
everything is fine.

Anyway - it worked! This is my first experience with GA and you are an
example of how efficient the process it, I am very pleased.

Dear Tom,

Terrific news! It sounded good, but with so many variables, one can
never be sure until it is tried and tested. If you want to see how I
found the link, you'll find my search terms below. Using them in a
Google Groups search is what did the trick, it's just a matter of
reading through the posts.

Here it is again, to make it official...
