I'm looking for a complete list of establishments within a 40 mile
radius of Ormskirk, UK who offer recognised electrical installation
training for self-employed electricians in the UK who wish to ensure
they comply with all new relevant legal requirements to carry out
domestic electrical installation work.

In particular I am interested in schemes which cater for existing
part-qualified and experienced electricians - i.e. those schemes
which will accept accreditation of prior learning, in particular past
qualification gained through the City and Guilds 2360 scheme, without
requiring the engineer to spend many months re-covering the basics
such as how to attach a 3-pin plug to a bit of flex.

Also of interest are schemes which cater for those not wishing to
qualify in the entire spectrum of electrical installation work - I am
primarily interested in domestic installation work,
competences/qualification for heavy/industrial installation work is
not required.

My intended field of work would be domestic ring main installation,
domestic lighting circuit installation, domestic showers, domestic
exterior lighting etc. & I wish to work toward requalification as a
fully self-certified (!), independant electrician, able to issue all
relevant certificates independently without requiring to involve
building control.

All the above in relation to the rapidly approaching introduction of
new legislation (the building control 'P' regulations and associated
areas of legislation) introduced under our friend the government
minister John Prescott.

I'm essentially looking for a 'pre-qualified list' of establishments,
with contact numbers, whom I could then call myself in order to make
further enquiries.

I believe this question would more than likely require a researcher to
make a number of exploratory 'phone calls.

Thanks for any assistance.

When I say 'exhaustive', I don't think I would be too concerned if you
missed one or two obscure colleges. As long as some good leads can be
found ;-)

Also, if the 40 mile radius is too restrictive, and such
establishments simply cannot be found within that area, expand it a
little if deperately needed.

I'm reducing the scope of the question in the light of research I've
done myself. The question fee remains the same.

I've determined that the specific courses that I would be interested
in would be the following:

1. City & Guilds C&G 2381 - 16th Edition Electrical Installation

2. EAL Level 2 Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers

3. City & Guilds C&G 2391 - Inspection, Testing and Certification of
Electrical Installations

All that I now require as an answer, is as comprehensive a list as
possible of training establishments with contact details, within 40
miles of Ormskirk, UK, which offer one or more of the above.

There is no answer at this time.
